Turkey's Best Pomegranate in Irlıganlı

Harvest has started in Hijaz pomegranate, which is produced on approximately 24 thousand decares in Irlıganlı District of Pamukkale district of Denizli. Hijaz pomegranate, which was sold in the field at 2.20 to 2.80 TL per kilogram last year, is sold between 3.5 and 4 TL this year. It is expected that approximately 4050 thousand tons of Hijaz pomegranate will be harvested in the region this year.

Stating that even though there is a loss of yield in the production of hicaz pomegranate due to the cold in the region in winter, Yılmaz stated that the farmers who become professional in pomegranate production grow the quality pomegranate desired by the exporter, and said, “Pomegranate, which is produced intensively in the Pamukkale plain, has the distinction of being the highest quality pomegranate in Turkey above the standards. Production here has been continuing since the 1990s, with the quality, caliber, taste and aroma of the region, with the effects of the microclimate in our favor. With each passing day, we see that the quality and caliber are increasing here. Although we have experienced a large-scale loss of yield in winter this year due to the cold damage before and during the flowering period, it has contributed to the scarcity of the product and its large caliber. Approximately 9095 percent of the pomegranate produced in Pamukkale plain provides input to our country as export and added value. I believe that our producers are becoming more professional with each passing day and that I can achieve branding with the increase in experience and knowledge. I am much more hopeful for the coming years. I wish everyone a good harvest season in abundance and abundance. Pomegranate production is carried out on an area of approximately 20 thousand decares. I know that there is an export of between 40 and 50 thousand tons, which differs from year to year," he said.
